No collection can be complete without an MP40 or its big brother, the MP44 also known as the STG44. Both were the German armies machine pistol of choice during WW2, with the MP40 having been born out of several earlier MP derivatives. The rarer MP44/STG44 was totally different - developed by a bit of a cock up by the Luftwaffe accidentally developing and then ordering the ammunition first, then having to come up with a use for the intermediate round. Folk lore has it that the AK47 was developed from the Mp44 but it might have inspired the use of the round and the mag but the rest of the gun is very different when you take them apart. As we know, the MP40 was in use for the whole of WW2 by all parts of the German army, the MP44 tended to be a favorite amongst SS Battalians who could pull rank and pretty much get what gun they wanted.Please check out the examples below - we usually have both MP40/MP44 deactivated and dug up relics abvailable:

G43`s are rare at the best of times and are big money when deactivated, so this has got to be the cheapest G43 ever - although to be fair its only really the barrel and breach thats original as its missing its bolt and trigger assembly (plus the barrel is a little bent). It is, however, the sniper version as it has the sight rail on the breach, plus we tracked down some woodwork for it and a real mag as well. Here`s a dug up MP44 that was lost in the north Russian Courland battle in 1944. Having spent over 70 years in the ground its fair to say this one has suffered a lot, so we figured the best thing to do was to mount it on a nice hardwood board ready to hang on the wall. End result looks very good and you get a moving bolt which is a big bonus. No need to deactivate as its "deactivated by other means" - and crumbling...WW2 German MP44, mounted and ready to hang:

This ones got the stock fully closed, comes with a replacement real mag, looks like the grip frame has had some repairs with a black rubber cement - nice job, though we have to point it out. Wow, now you just don`t see a lot of STG44/MP44`s around - deactivated ones go for £3500+ when you do, so to get hold of a complete WW2 German STG44 dug up from the Courland Pocket Battle is just epic. This one is in excellent condition for having spent 70 years in the ground, metalwork is very good, with metal finish that hasn`t been sand blasted and you can make out a couple of markings. The bolt was missing so we popped in a repro and spring so it moves which is nice plus we fitted some quality repro woodwork just to finish it off. Breach and barrel are well rusted/clogged up so "deactivated by other means" but we have had the breach pinned and welded to be certain.WW2 German STG44 - complete rifle, repro wood fitted to finish it off, excellent example, great addition to any collection:

Deactivated Guns and the law:
Real-gun.com cannot sell deactivated guns to anyone under the age of 18. Though are not required to store this in a gun safe it is advised you store them in you dwelling, preferably in a locked cupboard. When transporting de-acs please keep them in out of site, preferably in a gun bag. Be sensible - don`t mount a .50 cal on the roof of your Jeep and take a drive - its fine on private land at shows but given the current climate please do not stress our Police any more than they currently are!
