Just epic, here`s a stunning 1942 dated BYF German K98 fitted with its 100% original Goertz scope fitted on its original slide mount. Rifle has matching numbers on the breach, barrel, receiver and barrel bands but not the bolt. Condition is fantastic but not restored, optics are clear and in great condition, mounts nice and tight, laminate wood stock is a beauty - the butt has been modified to take a non-K98 sling - the shooter probably fitted a longer leather sling to wrap around the shoulder for more support when shooting, alas no sling came with it. This one is fitted with the very neat ZF41 marksman scope (never intended for snipers, they were for the best shot in group) with the correct full fit mount (not the smaller repro part that just bolts on) with corrct waffen stamps, some surface wear to the scope but good optics. Now this is a cracking K98 sniper rifle - excellent 1941 German K98 with tons of German eagle stamps and waffen stamps all over it, great original solid woodwork and an excellent waffen stamped Lindlicher scope with off-set double claw mounts (these have two prongs at either end of the upper mount which correspond with the recievers of the lower claw mount - slot it in and the rear lock snaps in place - fantastically German over the top fine engineering - plus they are far too complex for the fakery machines in China.... Optics are excellent, though you can tell this is clearly an original scope, plus it has retained its period leather lens protectors. Here's a fine deactivated German WW2 1943 dated K98 Sniper rifle fitted with period high mounts and Helivier scope - in good condition for age as you would expect but not mint! The rifle has excellent Waffenamt stamps (though its not matching numbers) The woodwork and metalwork are excellent with a little patina - enough for it to look and feel authentic (I would maybe doubt a "perfect" WW2 sniper, as they real deal will have been used a little...) - even the sling is period and correct - just love this rifle. Deactivated Guns and the law:
Real-gun.com cannot sell deactivated guns to anyone under the age of 18. Though are not required to store this in a gun safe it is advised you store them in you dwelling, preferably in a locked cupboard. When transporting de-acs please keep them in out of site, preferably in a gun bag. Be sensible - don`t mount a .50 cal on the roof of your Jeep and take a drive - its fine on private land at shows but given the current climate please do not stress our Police any more than they currently are!
